EARTH HOUR 2014

Uniting People To Protect The Planet – Saturday 29 March 2014 08:30pm

Global Warming is the greatest threat facing our planet today. A warming planet alters weather patterns, water supplies, seasonal growth for plants and the world`s wildlife.

Earth Hour this year will be held on Saturday 29 March between 08:30 and 09:30pm.

The event encourages individuals, communities, households and businesses to take accountability for their ecological footprint, and turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.

For the 6th consecutive year, HSBC Malta will once again be participating in Earth Hour by switching off non critical lighting and air-conditioning estimating a saving of 78kgs of greenhouse gas emissions, which is equivalent to emissions by 89 households.

You are also encouraged to participate in Earth Hour from your homes by switching off electrical appliances which are normally “on” at that time. This may be of a bit of an inconvenience, but it may also be fun. We leave it to your imagination!
