Become a vendor

HSBC online banking provides customers with several services which will enable them to handle most of their banking requirements from the comfort of their homes. One special feature of our package is the ability to pay bills or amounts due to merchants.

General information

HSBC online banking users will be able to:

select the merchant to whom payment has to be made from a predefined list supplied by the bank
enter a reference number which will enable the Merchant to identify the payment.
enter the amount payable

The user then has a choice whether the payment is to be effected immediately, at a later date or whether to set up a recurring payment (e.g. monthly).

The reference number can take a format of your choosing, such as an invoice number, and ID card number or a client number. The format must include at least four numbers.

You will need to provide us with details of your company’s preferred reference number format when you create your vendor profile.

Client Number MAL2345	Format will be: 3 Alpha 4 Numeric
ID Card Number 992345M	Format will be: 6 Numeric 1 Alpha

You will need to provide us with details of your company’s preferred reference number format when you create your vendor profile.

We also request that you specify the minimum and maximum length of this reference field.

On a daily basis (working days only - Monday to Saturday) payments made to you by customers will be totalled together and credited to your designated account with the bank. A report will be generated containing details of all the individual payments that the bulk credit entry represents. This will be sent to you directly by an encrypted email.

The file can then be directly fed into your own automated system or if this is not possible the report can be used to determine the customers that have effected payment.

All you need to do to enjoy these benefits is to provide us with an HSBC account number of your choice. If you do not hold an account with us you may open a specific account for this purpose.

The bank will charge €0.47 cents per transaction irrespective of the amount of payment. The charges will be debited to your account with us on a monthly basis.

The file received via email will be viewed using the Notepad application. It will be received in the following format:

the first 4 digits in the file represent the department /branch responsible
following these are 8 digits relating to date in the format DDMMYYYY
the next 6 digits correspond to Transaction Time
the subsequent field composed of 4 characters followed by 5 digits, refers to transaction reference
the next field made up of 13 digits represents the amount paid by customer – last two digits relate to cents
the remitter’s name comes in the following field which can take up to 28 characters
last field corresponds to respective beneficiary’s reference number which can be populated with a max of 30 alpha numeric characters
