Premier family privileges

Our HSBC Premier Head Start Account encourages savings from birth and offers the experience of managing a savings account from 16 years of age. Your children will enjoy preferential rates of interest up until the age of 25.

Free Travel Insurance

Free Travel Insurance if you're an HSBC Premier customer under 76 years of age. You'll receive free multi-trip, worldwide travel insurance to cover you and your eligible family members when you're travelling.

  • Personal accidents cover for unexpected injuries or fatal accidents.
  • Medical expenses cover for medical treatment including hospital stays.
  • 24-hour emergency assistance for help when you need it most.
  • Personal belongings cover for accidental loss, damage or theft of possessions.
  • Travel cancellation and delay cover for when your holiday plans are disrupted.
  • Personal liability cover for injury to someone else or damage to their property.
  • Vehicle hire excess cover for Premier customers

Free Purchase Protection Insurance

Free Purchase Protection is offered to HSBC Premier customer holding an HSBC Premier credit or debit card and provide protection against accidental loss, theft or damage to retail goods. The policy covers worldwide in-store and online purchases for up to 120 days from the date of purchase.

Free Life Cover Insurance

Free life cover insurance is offered to HSBC Premier customers who hold an HSBC Premier Credit Mastercard. Any liability on your credit card account, up to a maximum of €7,500, will be repaid, in the unforeseen event of your death. This benefit will only apply for principle cardholders and only up to the age of 66.

Who can apply?

There are several ways to qualify for HSBC Premier status, including:

  • if you hold savings or investments with a balance of €70,000 or more in your HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c account.
  • if you have a minimum net annual income^ of €50,000 if applying as a sole customer or €75,000 if applying as a joint customer with a spouse or partner, credited to a HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c account. 

This does not include money transferred from any other sole or joint personal account(s) you may hold with HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c.

^income is defined strictly as:

  1. salary that is credited to your account by your employer/s or from any third-party account;
  2. rental income, interest coupons and/or dividends that are credited to your account from any third-party account;
  3. HSBC Interest, coupons and/or dividend payments; and/or
  4. cheque deposits greater or equal to €500.
  • If you have a new or existing mortgage with HSBC Malta, equivalent to a minimum of €300,000 if applying as a sole customer or €400,000 as a joint customer with a spouse or partner, subject to salary being credited into an HSBC Bank Malta p.l.c. account
